HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover (2-1 overall) battled no. 17 ranked Hope on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium, falling to the Flying Dutchmen 27-10.
INSIDE THE STATS
Senior quarterback
Eian Roudebush delivered a strong performance through the air, completing 34-of-50 passes for 228 yards and one touchdown.
Junior
Jack Pennington secured the lone Panther touchdown hauling in seven receptions for 53 yards.
Junior
DJ Grinter tallied 79 receiving yards on eight hook-ups.
Sophomore
Josh Williams was the work horse for Hanover out of the backfield, running for 30 yards on eight carries.
Defensively, the Panthers hung tough as three different defensemen tallied six total tackles. Junior
Kasey Hospelhorn had six solo stops, while his teammate, senior
George Marten added six stops and a forced fumble.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Kicker sophomore
Andrew Weitzel split the uprights for Hanover's first points of the afternoon, converting a 27-yard field goal with seven seconds remaining in the second quarter.
The Panthers entered halftime trailing 13-3 and continued to compete into the second half. They looked to find a score midway through the third as they used the aerial attack to move the ball 50 yards to the Hope 10 yard line. Roudebush had Grinter in the endzone but came up empty handed turning the ball over on downs.
Hanover finally broke the goal line in the fourth quarter as Roudebush found Pennington in the back of the endzone for the four yard score. The drive capped a 75 yard drive.
