HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers celebrated senior day with a victory over Anderson on Saturday afternoon, 4-2. With the win, Hanover moves to 12-0-3 overall and 7-0-1 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and remains unbeaten in the league.
Prior to the contest, the Panthers recognized seniors
Amanda Carmosino (Noblesville, Ind.),
Anna Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio), Kenzie Long (Fishers, Ind.),
Kelsey Hughes (Noblesville, Ind.),
Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio),
Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.),
Bryn Rolfsen (Loveland, Ohio),
Molly Johnson (Newburgh, Ind.) and
Kelsey Haas (Pickerington, Ohio).
After a slow start that saw Hanover on the wrong side of a 1-0 advantage the Panther attack erupted. Boothby provided the game tying dagger in the 56
th minute as she was able to navigate the Raven defense.
However, Anderson refused to stop soaring as they were able to find a strike in the 58
th minute that propelled them back in front 2-1.
The seniors stepped up big as Hughes made her way into the score's column taking an assist from freshman
Beth Cook (Goshen, Ind.) that she netted to knot the contest at 2-2.
The goal outburst continued for Hanover as sophomore
Bri Matis (liberty Twp., Ohio) provided a strike in the 73
rd minute before Day delt the final blow en route to the 4-2 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 27 when they play host to Mt. St. Joseph for the HCAC regular season title. Game time is set for 3:30 PM.
