Second half outburst sends HC past Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ohio – A second half outburst sent the Panthers to a convincing 7-0 victory over Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Bluffton on Sunday afternoon. With the win, HC remains perfect on the year at 7-0-2, 2-0-0 HCAC.
 
Leading the charge was senior Autumn Bootby (Mount Orab, Ohio) and senior Mggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) with two goals apiece. In frame, sophomore Maggie Hinegardner (Fort Thomas, Ky.) collected her sixth clean sheet with three saves.
 
Day provided the first dagger for the Blue and Red late in the opening stanza as she was able to break the scoreless tie and send HC into the break with the 1-0 lead.
 
The second half saw a scoring frenzy as Boothby netted the second blow of the afternoon just moments into the frame, 2-0.
 
Day added her final blow from the pitch in the 59th minute as she took a pass from senior Bryn Rolfsen (Loveland, Ohio) pushing the difference to 3-0.
 
The 63rd minute saw senior Anna Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio) collect a goal as she connected with sophomore Bri Matis (Liberty Twp., Ohio) blowing the game wide open. With just over 20 minutes to play in the contest Rolfsen would deliver a goal that saw Hanover push the difference to 5-0.
 
The final two strikes of the afternoon came from Boothby and senior Molly Johnson (Newburgh, Ind.) as they secured the clean sheet and the 7-0 victory.
 
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 6 when they take on Transylvania. Game time is set for 7:0) PM.
