HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers improved to 2-0 overall on the season as they defeated non-conference foe Spalding on Wednesday evening, 82-56.
Hanover was paced in the contest by junior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) with a game-high 20 points and three rebounds. Sophomore
Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) added 14 points for the Blue and Red on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor.
The opening half saw a back-an-forth battle when a Houston three-pointer followed by a layup at the 11:46 minute mark saw Hanover capture the 18-16 advantage. The Blue and Red continued on the attack as senior
Noah Williams (Jeffersonville, Ind.) connected from downtown before back-to-back blows by sophomore
Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) and Munoz propelled HC to the double-digit advantage, 35-25. Hanover would enter the intermission with the 41-29 lead.
The second half saw the Panthers hot shooting continue as a 7-0 run pushed HC in front 58-33. With just over 12 minutes remaining in the contest Hanover added another momentum stealing run capped off by a Williams score, 69-48. The final minutes saw the Panthers run away with the 82-56 victory following an outstanding night from the floor, recording a 53.1 field goal percentage.
Hanover returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 23 when they play host to Wittenberg. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
