HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's lacrosse team claimed the non-conference victory over Wabash on Sunday afternoon, 15-5.
The Panthers were led in the contest by senior
Ian Kimmins (Dayton, Ohio) with a game-high six goals.
The first period saw Wabash jump out to the early 2-0 advantage following back-to-back strikes. However, Hanover responded as senior
Jackson Wheeler (Indianapolis, Ind.) found the back of the net at the 14:09 mark in the second frame. The outburst continued for Hanover as senior
Eric Hopkins (Evansville, Ind.) tied the game at 2-2.
The Panthers claimed the lead seconds later as Hopkins netted another goal at the 13:32 mark to give HC their first lead of the afternoon. Kimmins would claim back-to-back goals as well as he pushed the Panther advantage to 5-2 with just under nine minutes remaining.
Wabash added one more goal before a Kimmins scoring frenzy propelled the Blue and Red to the 8-3 halftime lead.
Wabash made a push early in the second half as they were able to cut the deficit to 8-4 when Wheeler beat the defense for another Panther score. Kimmins' insane afternoon continued as he found his eighth goal of the season at the 3:20 mark to see HC claim the 10-5 advantage.
Hanover tacked on two more scores early in the fourth period as both junior
Josh Perkins (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore
Bryce Nokes (Jeffersonville, Ind.) tallied goals, 12-5. The Panthers went on to score three more goals en route to the 15-5 victory.
