GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Hanover women's track and field team posted a strong afternoon as part of the DePauw Quad meet on Saturday.
Junior
Arig Tong (Columbus, Ind.) led the way for the Blue and Red as she won the 5,000-meter run crossing the finish line in a time of 19:13.00. Teammates, junior
Brianna Medcalf (Central, Ind.) finished third in the event with a time of 20:35.47 while junior
Leah Anders (Rising Sun, Ind.) took fifth overall.
Sophomore
Zaleeya Martin (Shlebyville, Ind.) dominated the 100-meter dash for the Panthers as she claimed a runner-up mark with a time of 13.14. She carried the momentum into the 200-meter dash where she finished third overall in a time of 27.93.
The 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore
Alijah Craig (Milan, Ind.), junior
Alexis Gerke (Cincinnati, Ohio), junior
Makenzie Carroll (Richmond, Ky.), and Martin charted an impressive finish taking third with a time of 51.78.
Gerke also found success in the 100-meter hurdles finishing third in a time of 17.96, while teammate Carroll took fifth in the 400-meter dash crossing the finish line with a time of 1:05.96.
Craig posted a fifth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.23.
In the 1,500-meter run, junior
Sawyer Osmun (Fishers, Ind.) registered a top mark taking seventh with a time of 5:20.16.
Senior
Erin Browning (Greensburg, Ind.) paced the Panthers in the field events as she captured the top spot in the hammer throw with a meet best distance of 50.28 meters. Junior
Jessica Beckman (Glenwood, Ind.) took fourth in the event while
Michaela Diem finished sixth and junior
Kamran Miles (Nabb, Ind.) seventh.
Beckman dominated the shot put for the Panthers as she finished second with a toss of 10.95 meters and claimed a sixth place finish in the discus with a toss of 28.62 meters. Teammate, Miles finished fourth in the event with a throw of 10.12 meters.
The field events saw Martin take sixth in the long jump with a distance of 4.82 meter, while Craig captured the fourth place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.38 meters.
Senior
Emily Jones (Greenfield, Ind.) would claim a top mark in the pole vault as she cleared a height of 2.95 meters, taking third overall.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 3 hosting the Hanover Invite.
