COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Hanover Panthers (3-5 overall) wrapped up play at the Pam Briggs Classic on Saturday afternoon falling to Mount Union 3-2 (25-23, 25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 8-15) before defeating Capital 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-12).

Following the conclusion of the Classic, Hanover saw two players earn all-tournament team honors in senior
Kelsey Ketcham (Mishawaka, Ind.) and junior
Adrianne Vance (Indianapolis, Ind.).

MOUNT UNION
Set One
The opening set would see Mount Union claim the slim lead when a kill by Vance halted the surge and pushed HC out in front 7-5. The Panthers continued on the attack as back-to-back blows by senior
Maura Dankoski (Fishers, Ind.) saw HC push the difference to 13-11. However, Mount Union battled tough knotting the contest at 22-22 when the Panther attack responded, this time senior
Maddie Edwards (Jasper, Ind.) provided the strike to secure the 25-23 victory.

Set Two
Hanover dominated the set early as freshman
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.) paced a four point rally that saw HC capture the 7-3 advantage. But again the Purple Raiders hung around knotting the score at 7-7 when a senior
Emma McPeek (North Vernon, Ind.) kill saw the Panthers steal the momentum. They would go on to claim the set as a Vance kill gave Hanover the 2-0 lead.

Set Three
The set opened as a back-an-forth battle when a Mount Union miscue saw HC capture the 16-15 lead. The excitement continued as kills by Harmon and Vance saw the Blue and Red extend the difference to 19-16. However, Mount Union rallied using a series of runs to claim the set 25-23.

Set Four
With the set tied at 5-5, Vance once again delivered to spark a short Hanover run that saw them take the 7-6 advantage. The Purple Raiders refused to roll over as a string of runs flipped the script and gave them the slim lead. But another Panther five point rally gave HC the convincing 15-12 advantage. However, the Blue and Red were unable to hold on as Mount Union scored the final five points to force a set five.

Set Five
The final set of the match was dominated mainly by the Purple Raiders who jumped ahead early and never looked back en route to the 15-8 victory.

CAPITAL
Set One
Hanover bounced back in the final match of the Pam Briggs Classic as they opened set one with a narrow 10-8 advantage after rattling off five straight points. The hot streak continued as kills by Edwards and a Capital miscue pushed HC further out front, 16-11. The final dagger would come from Ketcham who secured the 25-22 set one win.

Set Two
The Panthers used a series of runs to extend their lead in set two as a Vance kill followed by a strike from Dankoski gave HC the 20-18 advantage. Sophomore
Casey Dunn (Fort Thomas, Ky.) would take care of the rest as she claimed the 25-23 victory for the Blue and Red from behind the service line.

Set Three
The final set of the afternoon saw the Blue and Red run away early as they scored the first nine points of the set. The rest was history as Dankoski sparked a three run outburst that propelled HC to the 25-12 straight set victory.

Hanover returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 14 when they take on IU Southeast. First serve is slated for 7:00 PM.
