Volleyball sweeps day one of the Hanover Invitational

HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover College volleyball team hosted the Hanover Invitational of Friday, sweeping the opening day. They defeated Berea 3-2 (25-17, 25-14, 23-25, 17-25, 15-13) and Spalding 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-19).
 
MATCH 1 – BEREA
Hanover was paced in the match by senior Kelsey Ketcham (Mishawaka, Ind.) with a game-high 38 assists, while teammate sophomore Ella Reed (Lexington, Ky.) added a team-best 11 kills. Joining her in double digit kills was junior Adrianne Vance (Indianapolis, Ind.) with 10 total strikes.
 
Set one would see the Panthers dominate as they charted a best 15 kills on 34 total attempts. Hanover finished the set with a .324 hitting percentage, as junior Emma Harmon (Carmel, Ind.) secured the win with a kill.
 
The next set would see the Panthers tally 44 total attempts, charting 12 kills behind a strong performance by senior Maddie Edwards (Jasper, Ind.). Hanover went on to claim the victory 25-14, pushing the difference to 2-0.
 
However, Berea would even the match at two sets all forcing a fifth set. The final set saw Hanover reign successful as they tallied nine kills en route to the 15-13 victory.
 
MATCH 2 – SPALDING

The Panthers closed out the evening taking on Spalding, where they defeated the Golden Eagles in straight sets. Hanover was led by Harmon with 11 kills and Vance with 10 total strikes.
 
The opening set saw HC post a .250 hitting percentage behind an impressive senior Emma McPeek (North Vernon, Ind.) who helped propel the Panthers to the convincing 25-10 win.
 
Set two would see Harmon go to work as she was able to pace the Hanover attack who finished with a set high 16 kills on 48 attempts.
 
The final set of the evening would see another 16 kill performance by Hanover who claimed the straight set victory 25-19.
