HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover wrapped up the weekend by sweeping the competition as part of the Hanover Invitational. The Blue and Red posted a perfect 4-0 record, 2-0 on the day, as they defeated Trine 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-22) and Wilmington 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-8).
For their efforts, the Panthers landed two on the All-Tournament team in senior
Kelsey Ketcham (Mishawaka, Ind.) and sophomore
Casey Dunn (Fort Thomas, Ky.).
MATCH 1 – TRINE
Hanover was paced in the match by Ketcham with 26 assists, while senior
Maddie Edwards (Jasper, Ind.) added a team-high 11 kills.
Hanover dominated set one, tallying a set-high 14 kills on 41 total attempts. Leading the charge was junior
Meredith Deckard (Bedford, Ind.) from behind the service line. Deckard rattled off 10 straight points to send HC to the 25-17 set one win.
Set two would see HC post an impressive .333 hitting percentage as they again charted double digit kills (11). Junior
Adrianne Vance (Indianapolis, Ind.) paced the attack as she was able to help the Panthers push the lead to 2-0.
The final set of the contest saw HC use a late rally led by Dunn to capture the 15-8 difference. The final point would come from freshman Molly Schwaszkopf (Greenfield, Ind.) as she secured the straight set victory. Hanover tallied 12 total kills in the set for a combined 37 total for the match.
MATCH 2 – WILMINGTON
The Panthers saw a balanced attack in the final match of the Hanover Invite as Vance recorded a game-high 14 kill, while Ketcham added a team-best 27 helpers.
Set one saw the Blue and Red use a series of runs, including a 10-0 surge, to capture the convincing 25-16 victory. Hanover was led in the set by freshman
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.) who sparked the impressive 10-0 rally.
Hanover carried the momentum into set two as they charted a set-high 15 kills on 38 attempts. Pacing the attack was senior
Emma McPeek (North Vernon, Ind.) as she recorded the final two points to push HC out in front 2-0.
The final set was complete domination by Hanover as they ran past the Quakers 25-8. HC finished with a game-high 18 kills and tallied just one error.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 25 when they compete as part of the Transylvania Tournament.
