First half outburst leads HC past Earlham

HANOVER, Ind. – A first half outburst propels Hanover past Earlham in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon, 5-0. With the win, Hanover moves to 6-0-2 overall, 1-0-0 in HCAC action.
 
Leading the charge was senior Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) with a game-high three goals. Senior Kelsey Hughes (Noblesville, Ind.) and junior Josie Dattilo (Montgomery, Ohio) also added a strike.
 
The first half would see the Blue and Red surge ahead as Day netted a goal in the fourth minute off an assist by senior Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio), 1-0.
 
Day added her second strike of the contest moments later off another assist from Boothby that sent HC out in front 2-0. The final goal of the opening frame came from the duo of Hughes and senior Bryn Rolfsen (Loveland, Ohio) sending the Panthers into the intermission with a 3-0 lead.
 
The second half would see the Panthers add a pair of insurance goals, one in the 55th minute by Dattilo and the final goal in the 62nd minute by Day.
 
The Panthers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 3 when they take on Bluffton.
