Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (3-3 overall) used a balanced scoring attack to route Manchester in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon, 51-20.
Hanover was led in the contest by senior
Matthew Weimer (Georgetown, Ind.) with 281 yards through the air and two touchdowns. On the ground, sophomore
Austin Oppel (Brandenburg, Ky.) turned in an impressive day with 109 yards and three rushing scores.
Hanover wasted little time getting on the score board as Oppel capped a 14 play 71 yard drive with a four yard scamper, 7-0.
The Panther offense continued to fire on all cylinders as they added another first quarter endzone visit to push the difference to 14-0.
The second quarter saw the Panthers largest play of the afternoon as Weimer found senior
Hunter Eads (Batavia, Ohio) for a 94 yard connection and score, 27-7.
Eads and Weimer would connect one more time in the quarter propelling HC into the intermission with the demanding lead.
The second half saw HC turn up the intensity as Oppel charted back-to-back rushing scores one for a yard and another for 25 yards giving Hanover the commanding 43-8 advantage.
With the contest well in hand, the Panthers delivered one final blow as sophomore
Malachi Parks (Columbus, Ind.) got the call out of the back field, 51-20.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 when they welcome Mt. St. Joseph for Hall of Fame Day.
