HANOVER, Ind. – The Panther volleyball team used a four set comeback to secure the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Bluffton on Saturday afternoon 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-10, 26-24).
Leading the Panther attack was senior
Emma Harmon (Carmel, Ind.) with a team high 10 kills on 36 total attempts. Junior
Casey Dunn (Fort Thomas, Ky.) added 21 digs while junior
Aubrey Walton (Linton, Ind.) dished out 22 assists.
Set one saw Hanover serve out to the early lead as a five point rally paced by Walton put HC on top 15-6. The Panthers continued to attack as freshman
CC Shick (Fort Thomas, Ky.) delivered a kill before a sophomore
Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.) strike secured the set.
Hanover would surrender set two but came back strong in set three dominating the Beavers. They jumped out to the 7-3 lead after a freshman
Elly Knoop (Louisville, Ky.) kill. The rally continued as HC rattled off a four point run followed by a five point outburst capped by a Harmon kill to claim the set., 25-10.
The final set of the afternoon saw the Panthers play from behind finding themselves on the wrong side of a 16-10 deficit. But the Blue and Red remained poise as a series of Bluffton hiccups and a sophomore
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.) kill cut the difference to just 19-17. Hanover made one final push knotting the contest at 24-24 before connecting for the final two points of the match.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 19 when they welcome Transylvania. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
