Hanover wins in battle of HCAC play unbeaten

CINCINNATI, Ohio – In a battle of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference league play unconquered the Panthers (10-2-2 overall, 6-0-1 HCAC) reigned successful, defeating Mt. St. Joseph 1-0.

As a unit, the Panthers edged the Lions in shots 8-7, four of which landed on goal. In net, junior Maggie Hinegardner (Fort Thomas, Ky.) picked up three saves and a clean sheet.

In a contest that saw neither team willing to give an edge the Panthers broke through. Sophomore Beth Cook (Goshen, Ohio) led the charge as she played a ball from teammate freshman Kenna Patterson (Bloomington, Ind.) in the 21st minute for the 1-0 lead.

The Lions got some quality looks on frame in the second half but were denied by Hinegardner and the Panther defense en route to the 1-0 shutout.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 welcoming Bluffton. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
