ANDERSON, Ind. – The Hanover volleyball team competed in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action over the weekend, falling to Anderson 3-2 (18-25, 15-25, 25-22, 25-20, 9-15).
Hanover was paced in the contest by senior
Emma Harmon (Carmel, Ind.) and sophomore
Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.) with 10 kills each. Sophomore
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.) dished out 21 assists while junior
Casey Dunn (Fort Thomas, Ky.) picked up 22 digs.
After surrendering the first two sets the Panthers went to work. Set three saw them use a five point surge to claim the 8-4 advantage. However, the Ravens came soaring back knotting the contest at 12-12 then again at 15-15. The set winning push came after HC rattled off six of the last seven points for the win.
Hanover blew the next set wide open as an eight point run led by Dunn pushed HC on top 17-10. Anderson looked to make a comeback but were shut down as freshman
CC Shick (Fort Thomas, Ky.) and sophomore
Brooke Herrell (Greenfield, Ind.) landed kills that secured the match tying set.
The final set of the afternoon found the Panthers on the wrong end of a five set thriller with Anderson securing the HCAC victory 15-9.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Franklin.
