Second half lifts Women's Soccer to HCAC regular season champions

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Hanover hit the road in search of a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season crown at Rose-Hulman on Wednesday afternoon, tying the contest 1-1 en route to the crown.

Senior Josie Dattilo (Montgomery, Ohio) delivered for the Blue and Red as she netted the game tying blow late in the second half. Hanover finished with seven shots, six of which landed on frame.

The two teams refused to give anything up early when Dattilo fired a shot in the 10th minute that was denied by the Rose-Hulman keeper.

The back-and-forth battle ensued when Rose-Hulman broke the scoreless tie in the 41st minute firing a shot on the lower half of frame that beat the Panther goalkeeper, 1-0.

The second half would see HC look to push for the equalizer as freshman Kenna Patterson (Bloomington, Ind.) got a look on frame in the 63rd minute that was once again denied by the Fightin' Engineer defense.

With time winding down Hanover applied the pressure and Dattilo delivered finding the back of the net with just over 10 minute to play following assists by freshman Emily Duffey (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Cassidy Lett (Walton, Ky.) to secure the HCAC regular season title for the Panthers.

Hanover return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 2 when they compete as part of the semi-final round in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament as the no.  1 seed at the Soccer Complex.
