HANOVER, Ind. – Junior
Casey Dunn (fort Thomas, Ky.) surpassed 1,000 career digs as the Panthers (11-9 overall, 2-1 HCAC) dominated Defiance in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-14).
Set one saw the Panthers blow the contest wide open after a six point rally led by the service of freshman
Kelsey Waggoner (Indianapolis, Ind.) propelled HC on top 19-7. Hanover continued on the attack as they rattled off the final four points following a kill by freshman
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) and a service ace from sophomore
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.).
The second set saw a little fight from the Yellow Jackets as they were able to erase a 9-1 deficit cutting the difference to 14-11 when Mays once again deemed clutch. The Panthers carried the momentum charting the set's final five points behind the serve of Dunn en route to the 25-17 victory.
The final set of the evening opened much like the first two with Hanover surging ahead 8-2 behind the attack of freshman
CC Shick (Fort Thomas, Ky.). The Panthers never looked back as an 8-0 run propelled HC to the dominating 25-14 straight set win.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 12 when they travel to Mt. St. Joseph.
