WHEATON, Ill. – The Hanover Panthers (1-2 overall) hit the road competing as part of the Wheaton Tournament on Friday evening, falling to the no. 24 ranked Thunder 65-48.
Hanover landed two in double figures led by senior
Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.) with 15 points. Senior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) finished the contest with 14 points.
The first half saw a very competitive battle with Hanover hanging tough. The Panthers used a 7-0 run paced by Houston to surge ahead 10-4 at the 14:24 mark. The hot streak continued for the Blue and Red as sophomore
Luke Miller (Madison, Ind.) connected for a three-point at 12:56 to push the Panther difference to 15-8.
However, Wheaton refused to go away tying the contest at the 8:13 mark before flipping the script and taking the 24-17 advantage with just over five minutes remaining. Wininger dealt the Panthers final first half blow sending the team into the intermission trailing 29-27.
The second half saw Wheaton push their lead as a 9-0 run blew the contest wide open, 42-32. The Thunder offense continued to fire on all cylinders in the second half as they cruised to the 65-48 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 19 when they take on UW-River Falls at 6:00 PM.
