HANOVER, Ind. - The Panthers (3-2 overall) set the tempo early on Tuesday evening in Collier Arena as they shot past Hope in non-conference action, 65-54
Â
Leading the attack was the junior duo of
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) and
Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.). Greenamoyer tied a career-high 28 points while Gilman netted 16 points.Â
Â
In what quickly became a competitive battle the Panthers looked to push the tempo using their defense to fuel their offense. Hanover charted four different scorers in the first five minutes with Greenamoyer leading the way at the 15:00 minute mark to put HC on top 11-7.Â
Â
However, the Flying Dutchmen three-point shot deemed clutch as they were able to tie the contest at 15-15 before taking the three point advantage with 10 minutes remaining in the opening frame.Â
Â
Senior
Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.) showed his range hitting a three-pointer that once again knotted the contest at 22-22 before a Greenamoyer deep ball pushed HC back in front 25-24 at the 6:56 mark.  The Panthers entered the intermission leading 39-34 following an 18 point first half from Greenamoyer.Â
Â
The second half saw the hot hand of Greenamoyer ensue as he delivered another three-point blow following a Gilman runner in the lane that pushed HC on top 48-39.Â
Â
Gilman continued to battle in the paint giving Hanover its largest lead to date at the 17:51 mark, 45-39. But Hope refused to give up pulling within 57-48 when Greenamoyer tied his career-high of 28 points at the eight minute mark.Â
Â
Hanover never looked back slowing down the pace of the game and using clock management to secure the 65-54 victory.
Â
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, December 3 when they open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Bluffton. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
