HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers celebrated senior night Tuesday evening with Transylvania, recognizing seniors
Isaac Hibbard (New Albany, Ind.) and
Noah Williams (Jeffersonville, Ind.). The Blue and Red dropped the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest with Transylvania 86-81.
Hanover was paced by Hibbard with a double-double including a game-high 28 points and 10 assists, while teammate junior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) added 16 points.
Transylvania used precise shooting to claim the 16-11 advantage when the turnover plague struck. Hibbard led the charge with back-to-back steals cutting the difference to as little as two points before sending HC in front at the 10:24 mark, 22-20.
However, the Transylvania hot shooting continued as they closed the half shooting 70.4 percent from the floor to capture the 44-37 advantage.
Hanover looked to crank up the intensity in the second half using the electric crowd to fuel their offense. Junior
Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.) paced the surge followed by a sophomore
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) three-pointer that erupted Collier Arena and pushed HC in front 54-51.
The back-an-forth battle ensued as neither team could find an edge when a short Pioneer run sent them on top 74-67 with just 3:37 remaining in the contest. Hibbard attempted to get something started as he found sophomore
Ryan Morris (McCordsville, Ind.) in the lane but the comeback was to little too late as Transylvania secured the win.
Hanover returns to action on Friday, Feb. 18 when they travel to Mt. St. Joseph. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
