HANOVER, Ind. – After trailing early, the Panthers rallied to dominate Centenary in non-conference action, 13-2. With the win, HC moves to 1-1 overall on the season.
The Blue and Red used a balanced attack paced by senior
Dirk Meinhart (Elizabethtown, Ky.) with a game-high four goals on 14 shot attempts. Sophomore
Nick Adams (Greenwood, Ind.) added three goals, while teammates freshman
Alex Kleinhelter (Fishers, Ind.) and sophomore
Zach Stone (Elizabethtown, Ky.) netted two goals apiece.
Hanover packed the box sheet recording a game-high 49 shots, 57 ground balls and 16 face-off wins.
After falling behind 2-0, the Panthers roared with freshman
Owen Parker (O'Fallon, Mo.) finding the back of the net followed by a strike from Kleinhelter to close out the opening frame.
Hanover carried the momentum into the second stanza using a four goal outburst, led by Adams to extend the lead to 6-2 at the break.
Stone captured the first goal of the second half before Meinhart and Adams dealt back-to-back blows opening the flood gates. Meinhart added his fourth goal at the 1:58 mark before senior
Josh Perkins (San Diego, Calif.) secured the 13-2 victory with the final strike of the contest.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 27 when they welcome Carroll to Alumni Stadium. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
