The Panther struggle to produce runs in doubleheader with Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers hit the road this afternoon for a doubleheader with the Little Giants of Wabash, who most recently received votes in the D3baseball.com poll, falling in the highly competitive contest.

GAME ONE
Junior Matthew Alter (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the call to the mound in game one pitching six complete innings with one strikeout.

The Panthers fell behind early as Wabash singled through the right side in the second inning claiming the 1-0 advantage. The Little Giants would add one more run later in the inning as a ground out to second base pushed another runner across home plate, 2-0.

The final blow would come in the bottom of the seventh inning as Wabash secured the 3-0 victory.

GAME TWO
Game two would see Wabash pick-up right where they left off jumping out to the commanding 13-0 lead through six complete innings.

The Blue and Red looked to rally in the top of the eighth inning as junior Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) singled to the left side of the infield scoring sophomore Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) and advancing senior Charlie Burton (Columbus, Ind.) to scoring position.

However, the Little Giants remained poise retiring the side while tacking on one final run in the bottom half of the inning to secure the 14-1 victory.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday, March 26 when they play host to Ohio Wesleyan. First pitch of the three game series is set for 2:00 PM.
