Hanover sweeps Anderson in HCAC action

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Hanover baseball team swept Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Anderson on Saturday afternoon taking game one 10-4 before securing the twinbill 10-8.

GAME ONE
Junior Charlie Joyce (Indianapolis, Ind.) picked up the victory for the Blue and Red in game one as he pitched two and two thirds inning surrendering just one hit with three K's.

Hanover surged ahead to the 4-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning behind sophomore Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.). Christie recorded a two RBI triple in the inning to propel HC on top.

The final run of the inning came off the bat of sophomore Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) who singled to center field scoring senior Charlie Burton (Columbus, Ind.), 4-0.

The Ravens came soaring back adding four runs in the seventh inning to knot the contest.

However, junior Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) dealt clutch in the next half inning connecting for an RBI before a freshman Jake Danneman (Edgewood, Ky.) double blew the game wide open, 7-4.

Hanover never looked back using a three run ninth inning to claim the convincing 10-4 victory.

GAME TWO
The nightcap would see sophomore Marcus Goodpaster (Indianapolis, Ind.) get the call throwing six complete innings in rout to his first victory of the season.

After falling behind 1-0, freshman Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) delivered hitting a triple to right field in the third inning to tie the contest 1-1.

The Hanover offense continued to roar as senior Andrew Littlefield (Louisville, Ky.) plated Perkins later in the inning for the 2-1 lead.

However, Anderson refused to go away plating five in the bottom half of the inning to reclaim the 6-2 advantage.

The Panther bright spot would come in the sixth inning as Danneman deemed clutch helping propel HC out front 7-6.

The Blue and Red never looked back using a one run eighth inning and a one run ninth inning to secure the 10-8 win.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 23 when they travel to Bluffton. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM.
