Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) tied the Hanover single season record for career homeruns as the Panthers fell in the HCAC Tournament opener to no. 4 seed Anderson, 6-2.
Junior
Matthew Alter (Indianapolis, Ind.) got the start going four complete innings surrendering just four runs on eight hits.
The Hanover Panthers surged ahead early as Christie provided the fireworks in the top of the first inning with a solo shot to left field that tied the Hanover all-time career homerun record, 1-0.
The Blue and Red added an insurance run in the top of the third inning led off by Christie who singled before a senior
Charlie Burton (Columbus, Ind.) connection set the stage for junior
Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.). Dupps delivered collecting the RBI with a sacrifice fly to center field, 2-0.
However, the Ravens would sore back using a one run third inning and a two run fourth inning to claim their first lead of the afternoon, 3-2.
They never looked back plating two more runs in the seventh inning to secure the HCAC Tournament opening victory, 6-2.
The Blue and Red return to the diamond on Friday, May 13 at 12:30 PM taking on the loser of no. 2 Earlham and no. 3 Rose-Hulman.
