Spaulding connects from long range as Panthers play to 2-2 draw

HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers attacked the Owls early battling to a 2-2 tie in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore, forward, Beth Cook (Goshen, Ohio) paced the charge as she setup the first Panther strike following a Kenyon mishap. Cook charted five shots, three of which landed on frame. Senior Ainsleigh Spaulding (Independence, Ky.) added one goal for the Blue and Red.

Hanover surged onto the scoreboard just 30 seconds into the contest as Cook took a pass from freshman Kenna Patterson (Bloomington, Ind.) that deflected off the Kenyon defender for the 1-0 lead.

However, the Owls soared back as they finally settled in on the pitch netting the game tying goal in the 19th minute, 1-1.

Kenyon captured their first lead of the contest at the 68 minute mark following a cross in the box but Spaulding played party spoiler as she fired a bomb from outside 20-yards that propelled HC to the 2-2 draw.

Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 28 when they open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action with Earlham. Game time is set for 5:00 PM.
