GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers competed at DePauw this afternoon defeating Oberlin in straight sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-11) before taking down the host Tigers 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-16, 25-19).
GAME ONE
The Panthers dominated Oberlin in non-conference action as they combined for a game-high 38 kills. Leading the attack was freshman
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.) with a team best 10 kills.
Defensively, senior
Meredith Deckard (Bedford, Ind.) charted a team-high 15 digs while teammate Mays added 12.
Hanover finished the contest with a .262 hitting percentage while collecting eight blocks.
GAME TWO
The Blue and Red claimed the final two sets against DePauw as part of a four set thriller en route to a 2-0 afternoon.
Leading the Panthers was freshman
CC Shick (Fort Thomas, Ky.) with a game-high 16 kills on 29 attempts for an impressive .483 hitting percentage.
Junior
Aubrey Walton (Linton, Ind.) and sophomore
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.) paced the attack picking up double digit assists. Walton collected 18 while Schweitzer dished out 17.
Dunn led the defensive effort with a team-high 26 digs.
As a unit, Hanover posted a game best .205 hitting percentage with 51 kills.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 27 when they welcome Asbury. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
