HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover (8-7 overall, 4-4 HCAC) dropped a heartbreaker on Saturday afternoon to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Manchester, 76-75.
Senior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) paced the Panther attack with a team and game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds. Junior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) added 17 points.
The Hanover offense was firing on all cylinders to open the first half with Houston leading the charge. The senior helped propel Hanover to the 10-2 advantage after a 10-0 run. However, the Spartans remained poise chipping into the difference, cutting the lead to just 18-16 at the 9:43 mark.
Greenamoyer had Collier Arena raining three-pointers as he showed his range before a sophomore
Kyle Crim (Manilla, Ind.) deep ball pushed the Panther lead back to double digits. The Blue and Red entered the intermission leading the Spartans 42-31.
The second half saw the Spartan offense come alive as they were able to pull within 49-43 when a pair of Houston free throws froze the surge. But the Spartan rally ensued as a three-pointer at the 8:43 mark saw them trailing just 54-50.
However, Greenamoyer had the gym rocking as he hit a pair of corner three-pointers that extended the Panther lead. Manchester continued to hang around as they were able to claim their first lead of the half at the two second mark before securing the HCAC victory.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 18 when they welcome Transylvania to Collier Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
