Greenamoyer explodes from three-point as Hanover defeats Transylvania

HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover (9-7 overall, 5-4 HCAC) combated a late Transylvania surge to win a key Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory at home on Wednesday evening, 76-70.

Junior Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) led the Panther effort with a season-best seven made three-pointers for 27 points. Teammate, junior Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) added 16 points.

The Panther offense showed their range from the opening tip-off as Gilman provided a pair of back-to-back three-pointers pushing HC out front 11-6 at the 16:20 mark. Greenamoyer lit-up the scores column as he connected from downtown with 13:20 to play, 18-12.

The Panthers fired on all cylinders as Greenamoyer once again demonstrated the hot hand to extend the difference to 29-20. Transylvania was able to pull within 29-25 before junior Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) went to work.  The junior helped propel the Blue and Red into the intermission with the 37-32 advantage.

Greenamoyer led all scorers with 13 first half points.

Gilman and Greenamoyer dealt the one-two punch in the second half extending the Hanover lead to double figures, 42-32. The fast-paced contest ensued as the two teams exchanged points for several minutes when senior Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) gave Hanover its largest lead to date with just 8:55 remaining, 58-47.

However, the Pioneers slowly chipped at the deficit using their defensive pressure to cut the difference to 70-65 at the two minute mark. Gilman netted the momentum shifting dagger as the Panthers never looked back securing the HCAC victory.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 21 when they welcome HCAC opponent Bluffton. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
