Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio – Hanover (5-2 overall, 2-2 HCAC) hit the road for Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Mt. St. Joseph, falling to the league leading Lions 52-27.
The opening frame saw the Blue and Red on their heels quickly as MSJ took the opening kickoff 54-yards on six plays for the touchdown, 7-0.
After being forced into a three-an-out by the Lion secondary MSJ went to work once more extending their first quarter advantage to 14-0.
Hanover looked to gain some sort of momentum as they put together an eight play drive that landed them just shy of midfield. However, the MSJ defense prevailed forcing a senior
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) punt. Mt. St. Joseph continued to be all gas in the first half leading by as many as 38-0.
The second half saw the Panthers refuse to be shutout as they were able to move the ball 78-yards on six plays for the score. Under center, freshman
Eian Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) showed off his arm connecting with senior
Hunter Eads (Batavia, Ohio) for a 60-yard catch and score, 38-7.
Hanover added another trip to the endzone deep into the third quarter. Roudebush piloted a 68-yard eight play drive capped by a junior
Ben Massey (Indianapolis, Ind.) eight yard reception, 45-14.
He would find the goal line himself at the 12:39 mark in the fourth quarter after a senior
Brody Luker (New Palestine, Ind.) interception set the Panthers up at the MSJ 11-yard line. Roudebush handled the rest rushing left for the touchdown, 52-21.
The final Panther score came with just 3:06 remaining in the contest. In what seemed like déjà vu Roudebush found Eads for his second endzone trip of the afternoon, 52-27.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 when they travel to Rose-Hulman. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 PM.
