CINCINNATI, Ohio – Hanover (1-1 overall) dropped game one of the Lauren Hill Tip-Off Classic at Mt. St. Joseph on Saturday evening, falling to Trine 85-63.
Hanover landed two in double figures with sophomore
Avery Saunders (Ladoga, Ind.) leading the charge with a team-high 13 points. Freshman
William Herald (Fort Thomas, Ky.) added 11 points.
Trine captured the early lead using an 8-0 run to surge in front 13-3. Senior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) halted the charge swinging the momentum in favor of the Panthers. Hanover pulled within 13-12 when the Thunder struck again. They were able to push the difference back to double figures at the 8:36 mark, 27-16. But the Panthers refused to be tamed stringing together a 9-0 run capped by a Saunders jumper. Hanover entered the intermission trailing 39-35.
The second half would see Trine extend their lead to 52-38 using another 8-0 run. The Panthers looked to combat as junior
Michael Donoho (Rockport, Ind.) sank a layup in the lane halting the attack. But it wasn't enough as Trine had a dominate second half performance en route to the 85-63 win.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 12 when they take on Wilmington at MSJ. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.
