HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (19-7 overall, 7-2 HCAC) celebrated Senior day with 3-1 (25-18, 18-25, 25-18, 25-21) victory over Anderson on Saturday afternoon.
Hanover was led by junior
Jessie Stenger (St. Leon, Ind.) with a team-high 11 kills. Junior
Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.) dished out 21 helpers.
The opening set saw the Blue and Red surge ahead 6-3 following a 5-0 rally. However, Anderson remained poise knotting the set at 10-10. The Panthers refused to be tamed scoring four straight points off the serve of sophomore
Elliot Mays (Jeffersonville, Ind.), 16-12. It was just the momentum Hanover needed using a 6-0 run en route to the 25-18 win.
After surrendering the second set, the Panthers went back to work. Freshman
Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, Ind.) paced the attack propelling Hanover in front 8-4. Much like set one, Anderson hung around before a 6-0 outburst behind the serve of junior
Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.) sent Hanover in front 20-11. Stenger handled the rest securing the 25-18 win.
The last set would see the Ravens soar in front 7-5 when McCoy connected for a kill that flipped the script. The momentum claiming rally came off the serve of Schwarzkopf who sent HC on top 17-12. Freshman
Madison McCubbins (Mooresville, Ind.) claimed the victory for the Panthers.
Hanover returns to action next week when they compete as part of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
