HANOVER, Ind. – Freshman
Cam Freeman (Indianapolis, Ind.) paced the Panthers (6-3 overall, 3-0 HCAC) as they defeated Rose-Hulman on Wednesday evening in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action inside Collier Arena, 74-59.
Freeman finished with a team-high 15 points while three others landed in double figures. Sophomore
Avery Saunders (Ladoga, Ind.) and senior
Ty Houston (union, Ky.) added 13 points apiece while senior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) netted 12 points. Junior
Coleman Sater (Elletsville, Ind.) added a game-high 12 rebounds.
The opening half saw Rose-Hulman come out the gate firing from long range capturing the 20-11 advantage. But Hanover began to settle in as Greenamoyer completed the old fashion three-point play at the 9:40 mark to pull HC within 23-17.
The Panthers continued to claw at the difference as a Houston turnaround jumper in the lane cut the deficit to just 23-21. Hanover finally claimed the lead with 2:29 remaining as Saunders landed a dunk to give HC the 30-29 advantage. The Blue and Red entered the intermission clingy to a 35-34 lead.
Freeman cranked up the defensive pressure in the second half for Hanover as he created havoc. With the contest locked at 46-46 at the 12:33 point the freshman hit a three-pointer that sparked a 12-0 run and propelled HC on top 64-49.
Hanover never looked back as they were able to push the difference to as many as 72-52 at the 3:38 mark following a Saunders layup. The Panthers claimed the HCAC contest 74-59.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 16 when they welcome Mt. St. Joseph to Collier Arena for a 1:00 PM tip-off.
