HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (0-1 overall) played host to the Colonels of Centre on Saturday afternoon, dropping the season opener 21-4.
Hanover was led in the contest by sophomore Alex Kleinheleter (Fishers, Ind.) with a team-high six shots, four of which landed on frame. He also added a goal.
Hanover netted their first goal of the contest at the 12:57 mark in the first quarter as junior
Nick Adams (Greenwood, Ind.) found junior
Zach Stone (Elizabethtown, Ky.) to tie the contest at 1-1.
However, Centre had a goal outburst with five straight blows to capture the 6-1 lead.
Freshman
Colin O'Brien (Somers, Conn.) picked up his first career goal at the 4:07 mark in the first quarter before another Centre run saw them claim the 16-2 advantage.
The final two Panther goals came in the third quarter as Kleinhelter and Stone both found the back of the net, 16-4.
But Centre got the last say netting four goals in the fourth quarter en route to the win.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 18 when they travel to Wilmington. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
