Hanover advances to HCAC Tournament Semi-final with win over Franklin

HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers opened play as part of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Sunday afternoon, defeating area-rival Franklin 83-73.

With the win, Hanover advances to the HCAC Tournament semifinals taking on the no. 2 seed Anderson Ravens on Friday, Feb. 24. Tip-off from Manchester University is set for 5:00 PM.

Senior Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) led the Panthers with a game-high 28 points and nine rebounds. Teammate, junior Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) added 21 points. The junior also set the school record for three-pointers in a season after netting five in the contest bringing his season total to 77.
The Hanover Panthers came out firing as junior Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) netted a three-pointer at the 15:34 mark before Houston went to work. The senior netted seven straight Panther points to give the Blue and Red the 18-7 advantage.

Greenamoyer would make his presence known netting a deep ball with just over 10 minutes to play before connecting for his fourth of the afternoon at the 6:41 mark capping an 8-0 Panther run, 30-24.

However, Franklin refused to roll over as they were able to cut the deficit to 37-34 at the half. Hanover was paced in the first half by Greenamoyer with 14 points.

The second half saw Greenamoyer etch his name into the record books as he netted his 77 three-pointer of the season, breaking the previous record of 76 set during the 2003-04 season, to help propel HC on top 46-38. The Panthers got Collier Arena rocking using a 9-0 run to capture all the momentum. Junior Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) provided the dagger from the top of the key at the 10:30 mark, 61-47.

The scoring frenzy ensued as senior Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.) got an old fashion three-point play followed by a Houston put-back that saw Hanover lead 69-56 with 7:32 remaining. But Franklin wouldn't be tamed using a series of scores to cut the difference to 69-63.

However, Hanover secured the victory with their work on the offensive boards getting 11 points off second chance attempts to secure the HCAC Tournament advancing win.
