RICHMOND, Ind. – Early offensive successes proved key in the Hanover Panthers Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory at Earlham on Saturday afternoon, 76-70.
Leading the charge for Hanover was junior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) with a team-best 24 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore
Michael Donoho (Rockport, Ind.) added 10 points with six rebounds.
The Panthers stampeded the Quakers early as they used an 11-0 run led by Greenamoyer to capture the 11-2 advantage. The assault on net ensued as Hanover strung together another significant surge paced by junior
Matt Munoz (Indianapolis, Ind.) en route to the 32-18 lead at the 5:46 mark.
In a first half that was quickly defined by a game of runs, the Panthers dealt another 9-0 stretch that extend the difference. They entered the intermission leading 43-24.
In the second half, Earlham looked to cut the difference when Greenamoyer provided the three-point dagger that halted the charging Quakers. But Earlham continued to hang around pulling within 62-56 at the 3:34 mark when junior
Brice Gilman (Clinton, Ind.) found success at the free throw line, 64-56.
Earlham would get as close as 68-63 before Hanover was able to secure the contest at the charity stripe en route to the 76-70 HCAC victory.
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 8 when they welcome Franklin to Collier Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
