DECATUR, Ill. – The Hanover (3-4 overall) Baseball team picked up a non-conference win on Friday afternoon, defeating Hope as part of the Millikin Invite, 14-4.
The Panthers scored early and often as freshman
Robert Carroll (Hendersonville, Tenn.) charted the team's first RBI in the bottom of the second inning. The scoring frenzy ensued as sophomore
Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) singled to left field before a sophomore
Jake Danneman (Edgewood, Ky.) single up the middle plated two Panther runners, 4-0.
Hope got one run back in the top of the third inning but the Hanover offense erupted once more.
Danneman deemed clutch at the dish plating a run before junior
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) homered pushing the Panther lead to 7-1. With the contest well in hand, senior
Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) added insurance runs with a homerun that extended the Hanover lead, 10-1.
The Blue and Red never looked back adding four more runs en route to the convincing 14-4 win.
Senior
Matthew Alter (Indianapolis, Ind.) picked up the win on the mound throwing six complete innings with six strikeouts.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, March 11 when they take on Hope. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
