Late game skid deems costly for Panthers in contest with Hope

Box Score DECATUR, Ill. – Late game skip deems costly for the Panthers (3-5 overall) as they fall to Hope in non-conference action on Saturday, 5-3.

Hanover scored the game's first run in the top of the second inning as freshman Robert Carroll (Hendersonville, Tenn.) picked up the RBI with a sacrifice fly to left field scoring junior Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.), 1-0.

The top of the third inning saw Hanover add another run as sophomore Jake Danneman (Edgewood, Ky.) led off with a double down the left field line when Farnsley plated him following a RBI single to center field, 2-0.

Hope responded adding one run in the bottom of the fifth inning before claiming the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring three runs, 4-2.

They extended their lead to 5-2 after pushing another Flying Dutchmen run across the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Hanover looked to make one final push in the top of the eighth inning as Farnsley once again deemed clutch as the dish scoring junior Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) but Hope was able to retire the side and secure the win.

Hanover returns to action on Sunday, March 12 when they take on invite host Millikin in a doubleheader starting at 12:00 PM CST.
