DECATUR, Ill. – The Hanover Panthers (4-6 overall) drew a split with Millikin on Sunday afternoon winning the opener 14-4 before falling in the night cap 8-5.
GAME ONE
Hanover scored early and often as sophomore
Reid Douglas (Rossville, Ind.) hit a homerun in the top of the second inning scoring two runs. The excitement continued as sophomore
Grady Stickney (Cincinnati, Ohio) doubled down the left line pushing the Panther lead to 3-0.
In the top of the third inning, the Blue and Red blew the game wide open as senior
Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) provided the clutch hit scoring junior
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.), 4-0.
With the game well in hand sophomore
Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) picked up his first RBI of the afternoon in the top of the fourth inning before Douglas and Stickney both plated runs in top of the fifth inning, 8-2.
The Panthers added two runs in the sixth inning and four in the top of the seventh inning en route to the game one win.
Junior
Marcus Goodpaster (Indianapolis, Ind.) picked up the win on the mound throwing a complete game with eight strikeouts.
GAME TWO
Hanover surged ahead 1-0 in game two as senior
Jacob Dupps singled to right field in the top of the second inning scoring junior
Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.).
However, Millikin responded in the bottom half of the inning plating three runs before adding two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Roudebush looked to spark the offense in the top of the sixth inning as he singled to left field scoring one Panther runner, 5-3.
Millikin once again responded plating one run in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to the win.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, March 18 when they host Wabash at K.T. Young Ballpark. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM.
