HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers (3-2 overall) dominated Carroll University on Wednesday evening, defeating the Pioneers 15-3.
The Hanover attack pelted the Carroll goal charting a game-high 59 shots, led by sophomore
Alex Kleinhelter (Fishers, Ind.) with a team-high 11 shots and three goals. Senior
Dirk Meinhart (Elizabethtown, Ky.) also added three goals on double-digit attempts.
The opening period saw HC surge ahead 5-0 using a balanced attack. Sophomore
Owen Cuniffe (Indianapolis, Ind.) dealt the first blow before freshman
Colin O'Brien (Somers, Conn.) made his way into the score's column. Sophomore
Owen Parker (O'Fallon, Mo.) pushed the Panther lead to 3-0 before providing the helper on the next Meinhart strike.
The Hanover offense continued to fire on all cylinders netting 10 straight goals paced by the Cuniffe and Parker combo to claim the 10-1 lead at the 6:56 mark in the third quarter.
Meinhart picked up the hat trick moments later extending the difference to 11-1. Junior
Cole Finley (Louisa, Va.) found the back of the net in a man-up situation before
Colin O'Brien dealt the final strike of the frame.
With the contest well in hand, the Panther attack attached three more goals in the final frame en route to the dominating 15-3 win.
In goal, junior
Lance Guttormson (West Bend, Wis.) recorded the win with 13 saves through 43 minutes of work.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, March 18 when they welcome Wabash. Game time is set for noon.
