HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Baseball team (8-17 overall) returned to K.T. Young Ballpark this afternoon taking on non-conference foe Centre. The Panthers fell in the contest 6-4.
Hanover drew first blood in the bottom of the second inning as sophomore
Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) connected for a hard shot that plated sophomore
Reid Douglas (Rossville, Ind.). The final run of the inning came from the bat of senior
Spencer Martinelle (Indianapolis, Ind.) following a double to right field, 2-0.
Centre responded getting one run back in the next half inning as the lead-off batter picked up the home run, 2-1.
The offense continued to roll for the Blue and Red as Martinelle once again deemed clutch with a high fly ball to left field that extend the Panther lead to 3-1.
But the Colonels wouldn't be denied tacking on four runs in the top of the fifth to claim the 5-3 advantage.
The Panthers final run came in the seventh inning with Perkins collecting the RBI before HC surrendered the contest 6-4.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 15 when they hit the road for Earlham. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
