CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Hanover men's lacrosse team (6-6 overall, 3-0 HCAC) remained perfect in Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference action taking down the Lions of MSJ, 19-6.
The combination of sophomore
Alex Kleinhelter (Fishers, Ind.) and freshman
Colin O'Brien (Somers, Colo.) paced the offensive effort. Kleinhelter netted a game-high five goals while O'Brien added four goals.
Hanover surged ahead in the first frame with junior
Nick Adams (Greenwood, Ind.) and O'Brien providing back-to-back blows, 2-0.
MSJ cut the difference to 2-1 at the 6:58 mark when the Panthers blew the contest wide open.
Hanover rattled off six straight strikes as senior
Dirk Meinhart (Elizabethtown, Ky.) capped the scoring frenzy propelling HC on top 8-1.
After surrendering one final goal in the first half, the Panther offense handled the rest. Kleinhelter picked up a hat trick, netting three straight strikes over a four minute span to blow the game wide open, 15-2.
The contest saw Hanover add four more goals with Meinhart dealing the final blow en route to the dominating 19-6 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 15 when they travel to HCLC foe Anderson. Face-off is set for 1:00 PM.
