ANDERSON, Ind. – Second half domination propelled the Hanover men's lacrosse team to victory on Saturday afternoon in Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference action over Anderson, 12-7.
Freshman
Colin O'Brien (Somers, Conn.) led the attack with an impressive eight goals on a game-high 18 shots.
In a key HCLC match-up, the Panthers struck first as junior
Zach Stone (Elizabethtown, Ky.) connected with
Colin O'Brien for the 1-0 advantage just seconds into the contest.
However, the Ravens came soaring back netting three straight goals for the 3-1 lead with 14:42 to play until the intermission. The Blue and Red remained poise as O'Brien added his second goal of the afternoon before completing the hat trick at the 10:59 mark, 3-3.
The Panthers entered the half leading 5-4 as sophomore
Alex Kleinhelter (Fishers, Ind.) made his way into the scores column.
The second half would see Hanover blow the contest wide open netting three straight goals. Leading off the surge was senior
Dirk Meinhart (Elizabethtown, Ky.) followed by blows from O'Brien and sophomore
Owen Parker, 8-4.
Anderson halted the Panther attack at the 6:29 point in the third frame netting their first second half goal, 8-5.
O'Brien continued his impressive afternoon adding his sixth goal off an assist by sophomore
Scott Dues (Louisville, Ky.) that propelled HC into the final frame leading 9-5.
The Panthers added three final blows in the fourth quarter, paced by O'Brien with eight total goals, as they knocked off the Ravens in HCLC action 12-6.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, April 16 when they travel to Concordia Wisconsin. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
