LEXINGTON, Ky. – Hanover (11-19 overall, 5-9 HCAC) dropped their weekend series with the Pioneers of Transylvania on Sunday afternoon, falling in game three of the three game series 8-4.
Transylvania jumped ahead 1-0 using a one run second inning.
However, Hanover responded in the next half inning as senior
Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) singled to center field scoring junior
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.).
But the Pioneers continued to be efficient at the dish as they reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third inning, 2-1.
Sophomore
Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) connected for the clutch sacrifice bunt in the top of the fourth inning that saw the contest tied once more, 2-2.
Hanover claimed their final lead later in that inning as freshman
Robert Carroll (Hendersonville, Tenn.) reached base on a Transylvania hiccup that scored Perkins, 3-2.
The Pioneers blew the game wide open using a six run seventh inning en route to the 8-4 victory.
Sophomore
Chris Hautman (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) got the start on the mound pitching five complete innings with four strikeouts.
Hanover returns to action on Tuesday, April 25 when they welcome non-conference foe Spalding. First pitch from K.T. Young Ballpark is set for 4:00 PM.
