Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – The Panther baseball (11-20 overall) team welcomed Spalding in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Golden Eagles 18-6.
Hanover claimed the 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the second inning following a Spalding wild pitch that scored junior
Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.).
The Panthers added a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning scoring two runs on two hits. Junior
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) picked up the first RBI scoring sophomore Sam Perklins (Louisville, Ky.). Farnsley added the final RBI of the inning with a hard-hit ball to third base, 3-0.
However, Spalding responded tying the contest in the top of the fourth inning plating three runs on three hits before using a three run fifth inning to surge ahead 6-3.
The Blue and Red got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth inning as senior
Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) connected for the RBI double that cut the difference to 6-5.
The Golden Eagles refused to be denied pushing the difference back to 8-5 after adding two runs in the top of the sixth inning.
They blew the contest wide open in the seventh inning en route to the 18-6 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 29 when they play host to Manchester. First pitch of the double header is set for 1:00 PM.
