FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers (7-14 overall, 1-5 HCAC) dropped the three game series with Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Franklin on Monday afternoon, losing the battle 13-11.
The Panthers were led in the contest by junior
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) with a team-high three RBI on two hits including one extra base hit.
Senior
Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) put the Panthers on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning as he singled through the right side plating two runs, 2-0.
Franklin responded in the next half inning tying the contest 2-2.
However, Roudebush brought the key hit for the Blue and Red as he connected for a triple that scored three giving HC the 5-2 advantage. Junior
Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) added the innings final run with an RBI to third.
The Grizzlies refused to be denied reclaiming the lead in the bottom of the third inning plating five runs before adding another run in the fourth inning, 8-6.
Hanover continued to battle this time with sophomore
Reid Douglas (Rossville, Ind.) picking up the RBI before freshman
Keelan Dyson (Camby, Ind.) knotted the score at 8-8. Senior
Spencer Martinelle (Indianapolis, Ind.) put the Panthers back on top moments later with a single through the right side.
But Franklin again responded adding a run in the bottom of the sixth inning before tacking on four insurance runs in the seventh inning en route to the 13-11 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8 when they play host to Rose-Hulman.
