Hanover drops HCAC contest with Rose-Hulman

Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover (7-15 overall, 1-6 HCAC) welcomed Rose-Hulman to K.T. Young Ballpark for Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday afternoon, surrendering game one of the three game series 13-7.

After giving up one run in the top of the first inning, the Panthers responded at the dish. Leading the charge was senior Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) as he connected for a key RBI to center field that pushed HC on top 2-1.

However, Rose-Hulman refused to be denied adding four runs in the top of the third inning on six hits and one Panther mishap, 5-2.

Junior Eric Ruudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) brought the hit stick in the bottom of the fourth inning connecting for a single that plated both sophomore Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) and senior Spencer Martinelle (Indianapolis, Ind.), 5-5.

The Fightin' Engineers plated three runs in the sixth inning to push the difference to 8-5.

The Blue and Red got one run back in the bottom of the seventh inning with Dupps picking up the RBI cutting the deficit to 8-6.

But Rose-Hulman got the final say as they tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning followed by three runs in the ninth inning en route to the victory.

Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 8 when they conclude the three game series with Rose-Hulman. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for noon.
