HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover (4-6 overall, 1-0 HCLC) dominated the offensive side of the ball as they knocked off Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference opponent Earlham 18-1 as part of their Senior Day celebration at Alumni Stadium.
Prior to the contest Hanover recognized seniors
Dirk Meinhart (Elizabethtown, Ky.) and
Daveion Sims (Indianapolis, Ind.).
The Panthers put on an offensive clinic scoring early and often. Junior
Zach Stone (Elizabethtown, Ky.) picked up the first goal of the contest before quickly tacking on his second at the 10:39 mark in the first quarter, 2-0.
Junior
Nick Adams (Greenwood, Ind.) made his way into the score's column followed by sophomore
Alex Kleinhelter (Fishers, Ind.). Kleinhelter secured the hat trick with :32 seconds remaining propelling HC into the second frame leading 6-0.
The offensive explosion ensued as freshman
Colin O'Brien (Somers, Conn.) went back-to-back giving Hanover the 8-0 lead with 7:36 remaining in the first half. The final first half blows came from the sticks of Kleinhelter and Adams as the Panthers entered the intermission leading 10-0.
Hanover finished the first half with 34 shots, 19 of which landed on frame.
The second half saw the scoring frenzy ensue as Stone found the back of the net before junior
Cole Finley (Louisa, Va.) pushed the difference to 15-0.
Kleinhelter had himself a day finding the back of the net for the fifth time helping to propel Hanover to the 18-1 victory.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, April 11 when they travel to Mt. St. Joseph. The HCLC contest is set for 7:00 PM.
