LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Hanover (8-2 overall) claimed their sixth straight set victory of the season, defeating Spalding 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-15).
The Panthers were led by freshman
Madison McCubbins (Mooresville, Ind.) with a game-high 11 kills, posting a .214 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Maddie Robertson (Mitchell, Ind.) and junior
Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.) added seven kills apiece.
The opening set served-up as a back-an-forth battle before HC rattled off three straight points for the 15-11 lead. The Blue and Red continued on the attack with freshman
Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, Ind.) charting a pair of points that helped propel Hanover to the 25-21 win.
Set two saw Hanover begin to find their groove as they used a five point rally surging ahead 9-3. The Eagles produced a run of their own cutting the difference to 16-11 before McCubbins paced a four point explosion to send HC to 25-14 victory.
The final set once again would see Hanover claim the early lead as Schwarzkopf connected for a kill, 12-10. Hanover stole the set moments later charting six straight points securing the 25-15 win.
Hanover returns to action on Friday, Sept. 22 and Saturday, Sept. 23 when they compete as part of the Millikin Invitational.
