Volleyball splits the weekend at Millikin

 DECATUR, Ill. – Hanover (10-4 overall) posted a 2-2 week as part of the Millikin Invitational, splitting both Friday and Saturday.
 
Game One – Illinois College
Hanover opened the weekend against Illinois College winning in straight sets (25-23, 25-11, 31-29).
 
Top Performers – Hanvoer was led in the contest by sophomore CC Shick (Fort Thomas, Ky.) with a team-high nine kills. Junior Molly Schwarzkopf (Greenfield, Ind.) and freshman Abbey McCoy (Indianapolis, Ind.) added eight kills apiece.
 
Defensively, senior Casey Dunn (Fort Thomas, Ky.) charted 15 digs while junior Maggie Schweitzer (Shelbyville, Ind.) added 14.
 
Game Two – Millikin University
Hanover dropped a competitive match 3-1 (24-26, 10-25, 25-21, 15-25)
 
Top Performers – Schwarzkopf finished with a team best seven kills. As a unit, Hanover recorded 35 kills on 140 attempts.
 
Game Three – Fontbonne
The Blue and Red dropped the Saturday morning opener 3-1 (18-25, 22-25, 26-24, 21-25).
 
Top Performer – Shick led the Panther attack with 11 kills, while freshman Megan Vogel (North Vernon, Ind.) dished out 14 assists. Teammate, senior Aubrey Walton (Linton, Ind.) added 13 helpers. Dunn charted 17 digs.
 
Game Four – Knox
The Panthers closed out the weekend with a straight set win over Knox (25-17, 25-15, 25-11).
 
Top Performers – Hanover finished with three in double digit kills, Shick, McCoy, and freshman Madison MCCubbins (Mooresville, Ind.). McCoy paced the field with a team-high 14.
 
Hanover returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 27 when they travel to Asbury. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
