ANDERSON, Ind. – Despite a strong second half, Hanover (8-4 overall, 4-1 HCAC) dropped their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest of the season at Anderson, 92-80.
Senior
Ty Houston (Union, Ky.) netted a game-high 28 points and pulled in seven rebounds. Senior
Max Greenamoyer (Zionsville, Ind.) added 11 points, leaving him just five points shy of 1,000 career points.
Hanover claimed an early 10-7 lead off a Houston free throw before the Raven offense took over. With just under 15 minutes to play they used a 12-2 scoring run en route to a commanding 24-14 advantage. They continued to fire on all cylinders claiming their largest lead of the half at the 5:09 mark, 43-21.
However, the Panther offense slowly began to find their groove using a scoring outburst to pull within 51-32 at the half. The momentum carried into the second half as Greenamoyer drained a three-pointer to cut the difference to 60-48.
Junior
Coleman Sater (Ellettsville, Ind.) pulled HC within 62-54 at the 12:03 mark when freshman
CJ Walls (Louisville, Ky.) made a free throw that saw the difference cut to just 72-70 with 7:22 remaining. However, Anderson was able to regain the momentum with a slim run that saw the lead reach double digits and the rest was history.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 6 when they travel to Manchester. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
