Panthers Fall to 3-2 in Conference After Loss Against MSJ

Cincinnati, OH - HC women's soccer went on the road to take on the Lions of Mt. St. Joeseph University for their fifth conference game of the 2024 season.

The Panthers began league play strong, winning three of their last four conference match-ups, and netting 13 total goals while only allowing 2. Also having won four of their last five games, the ladies assuredly felt ready to compete heading to Cincinnati.

Once the action began in Cincy, Hanover let in an early goal just before the ninth minute of play, and now faced an uphill battle in their first frigid night game of the season. Just as the first half was winding down and only two and a half minutes left ot play, freshman forward Lily Clark drew a penalty inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick for HC.

Senior forward Beth Cook, with a calming poise, buried the PK attempt for her team, giving them new life as the game was now 1-1 headed into the halftime break.

The second half was slightly more tightly contested than the first, however, Hanover ultimately fell short. Letting in one last goal in the seventy-eighth minute, the Panthers went on to lose 2-1 to the Lions.

Junior goalkeeper Emma Patterson finished the contest with 4 saves in ninety minutes of action.

The ladies are back home this weekend as they look to host Berea College (Ky.) at 1:00PM EST.
